Helping Kids, Helping Families
On Saturday, April 9, the Humanity Project will partner with many other great organizations in South Florida
to help prevent child abuse. Actually, we’ve been part of this multi-agency effort since late last year. Called Broward AWARE, the campaign aims to raise awareness about many aspects of a horrendous problem. The Humanity Project will head up the booth dealing with bullying issues. But the April 9 event will include information about many other forms of child abuse — and how to prevent them. Our partners include Broward Sheriff’s Office; Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies; Children’s Services Council; Florida Department of Children & Families; ChildNet; Broward 2-1-1; Human Trafficking Coalition; Healthy Families Broward and too many other agencies to list them all. But this event also will be fun for the whole family, with games, raffle prizes, music, music videos (including the Humanity Project’s anti-bullying music video) and lots more. There will be free food and refreshments as well, provided by our sponsors: Pepsi, Chick-fil-A and Domino’s Pizza. We’re expecting hundreds of South Florida families to show up and learn about preventing child abuse — and have some fun in the process. It’s all called the “Family Fun & Resource Day, presented by Broward AWARE! Protecting Our Children.” From 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., everyone is welcome at Rev. Samuel Delevoe Park, 2520 NW 6th Street in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Like our partners in this campaign, the Humanity Project believes child abuse is a problem that should engage the whole community. Saturday’s Family Fun & Resource Day is one step in the right direction.
