Day Of Peace

If you’ve had any chance to explore this website, you have realized that the Humanity Project is not an anti-bullying group. Our innovative anti-bullying programs are among the real world expressions of our empirically based ideas. The Humanity Project believes that society can only become better by improving individuals, as Marie Curie long ago suggested. And we think that one powerful way to improve individuals is through what we call “shared value” — the notion that there is a practical method for rising above a self-centered life for the good of both others and ourselves. With this in mind, we wanted to give a nod of appreciation to this week’s celebration of the International Day of Peace. This United Nations event was established in 1981 for “commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace within and among all nations and people.” This year’s Peace Day falls on Tuesday, September 21 — and we hope you may take a moment to reflect on the ideal of world peace this week. To learn more, you can go to the UN website at http://www.un.org/en/events/peaceday/2009/. John Lennon had the right words many years ago: “Give peace a chance.”
